Located at the original construction yard for one of Christchurch’s most reputable building companies, Chas S Luney Limited, this existing 3000m2 structural steel fabrication building located in Charles Luney Industrial Estate was refurbished for Corus Metals, now Steel and Tube, with a new street facade and office extension and amenities. The facade and new office extension was constructed with traditional red bricks to complement the existing office building in the Estate that was constructed in the mid 80’s. Despite this industrial suburb suffering major earthquake damage, the buildings brickwork survived with no damage. Lattice trusses were introduced in the factory space to accommodate new large openings to allow B-train truck access and overhead gantry cranes. This is just one building of many within the Charles Luney Industrial Park that Architecture Studio has been involved with designing new builds, alterations and extensions.
